Artificial turf, also called synthetic turf or artificial grass, is a manufactured grass surface designed to look and feel like a healthy natural lawn without the upkeep. It holds its color year-round, needs no mowing or watering, and stands up to heavy foot traffic, pets, and play.
The Turf Yard carries four landscape turf products plus a turf infill, so you can match the look, density, and budget to your project. From premium curb-appeal front yards to value-conscious large areas, the right pick depends on how the space gets used in the Arizona and Utah climate.
Turf performance comes from a few core specs: pile height (how tall the blades stand), total weight (how dense the turf feels), blade or fiber shape, and the backing and coating that hold everything together.
All of our turf products now use a heat-reducing W-Blade fiber — a W-shaped blade built for better heat resistance and durability under foot traffic — over a soft thatch layer, and Lucky 77 adds a durable monofilament construction. All four use a Double PP (polypropylene) backing with a polyurethane coating and perforated drainage holes, and quality landscape turf uses UV-stabilized, fade-resistant fibers for high-sun climates. The main difference between products is look, density, and feel rather than build quality.
A great turf result depends as much on the base as the turf itself. Most installs use a compacted aggregate base, a clean weed barrier, secure edges, sand-filled seams between rolls, and the right infill to support the blades and help the surface wear evenly and drain well.
We supply turf and materials and support both DIY homeowners and professional installers. Use our calculators for measuring your area and estimating turf and sub-base materials, then talk to our team about base prep, seams, infill, and project planning before you order.
Heat and water are the two factors Arizona buyers ask about most. Switching from natural grass to artificial turf removes ongoing irrigation, which can meaningfully reduce outdoor water use in a desert climate. Utah projects often value low-maintenance, four-season landscapes and recreation space.
Turf surface temperature in high-sun areas depends on the product, infill, shade, and surrounding hardscape, so we help you plan a heat-conscious setup rather than relying on the turf alone. Ask about heat-conscious options when you request an estimate.
One of the biggest reasons people switch to artificial grass is how little upkeep it needs — no mowing, watering, or fertilizing. Routine care is simple: occasionally brush the fibers against the grain to keep them upright in high-traffic spots, and rinse with a hose to clear dust, pollen, or pet use.
Because our turf uses a perforated drainage backing over a compacted base, water and rinse-off drain through quickly. For pet areas, the right infill and an occasional enzyme rinse help keep the surface fresh, and spot-cleaning spills as they happen keeps the lawn looking green and clean year-round.
